Spring Forward with a HVAC Maintenance Checklist

|

It’s best to keep your home comfort system operating at peak efficiency by having a contractor perform annual pre-season check-ups both in the Spring and Fall.

An easy way to remember when to schedule check-ups is setting them around the time Daylight Saving Time kicks in. This year Daylight Saving Time starts March 9.

A typical maintenance check-up should include checking thermostat settings, tightening all electrical connections, lubricating all moving parts and checking controls in the system to ensure they are running properly and safely, according to Energy Star.

Plus, there are cooling-specific checks required, including cleaning the evaporator and condenser air-conditioning coils, checking the AC’s refrigerant level, and cleaning and adjusting blower components.

See the complete maintenance checklis for your home’s heating and cooling system at EnergyStar.gov.
